About John Hoy
John Hoy has been Chief Executive at Castle Howard since June 2018 and he also looks after various other clients as an Independent Heritage Consultant from his base in Oxfordshire. Prior to this, John spent 15 months with Bidwells an Equity Partner and as their Head of Rural and before that he was Chief Executive of Blenheim Palace from 2003 to 2016.
Before joining Blenheim Palace, John enjoyed senior roles at Madame Tussaud’s London, Warwick Castle, Knebworth House and Goodwood House - so he has enjoyed a rich and varied career within the heritage and leisure industry. In addition to the above roles, John has sat on the Visit England Advisory Board since 2011 and he is also a Director and Vice-Chairman of Experience Oxfordshire – the destination management organisation for the County.
Castle Howard is an iconic estate sitting amidst the Howardian Hills in North Yorkshire. It is a traditional landed estate with the house, gardens and park being opened to the public and it is famed for being the setting for Brideshead Revisited – but there are many challenges as well as a significant backlog of urgent heritage repairs. John Hoy, newly appointed as CEO, will talk about these challenges and the actions being taken to address them.
